Brotherly Love: Abhay Deol Performs Rituals at Esha Deol's Wedding in Place of Bobby, Sunny Deol

Abhay Deol attended all the wedding functions of Esha Deol, and at the wedding inside the Hare Rama Hare Krishna temple in Juhu on Friday, June 29, he was on hand to perform the rituals a brother is responsible for.

June 30, 2012, (Sawfnews.com) - Abhay Deol attended all the wedding functions of Esha Deol, and at the wedding inside the Hare Rama Hare Krishna temple in Juhu on Friday, June 29, he was on hand to perform the rituals a brother is responsible for.

Abhay sat for havan and performed the laaja homam where the brother hands over puffed rice to the bride that she offers to the fire. The ritual is an expression of sibling support, and only a brother is supposed to perform it.

Abhay is known to be close to Esha and has always called her a friend.

Esha's half-brothers Bobby and Sunny Deol were absent from all wedding functions. Bobby is in London, while Sunny is busy with sohot of Bhaiyaaji Superhit in Mumbai. Sunny had reportedly attended the couple's engagement on February 12.

A girl can never have too many brothers, we say!

Интервью Абхая filmfare - нового ничего, опять про баланс коммерции и авторского в кино. Но приятно ещё раз прочитать, что любимый фильм Абхи из старых "Chupke Chupke" И фотка при публикации славная!

- опять симпатичное интервью с Абхаем: выдается за новое, но в последнем абзаце говориться о планах участвовать в шоу "в прямом эфире" в Лондоне - т.е. дело уже прошедшее.

По-моему, хороший выбор для потенциальных римейков: про "Втихаря" всё ясно - комедия положений всегда актуальна , в "Бандини" из Притти, например, могла бы получиться эффектная наксалитка - и Абхаю-доктору она бы предпочла, например, Саню-идеолога Ну а "Сатьякам" сейчас столько поводов сделать до того жестким, что даже "параллельное" кино охнет...

THE MUSIC IS OUT!

My music has been launched by not one but two companies!

Crecendo and Unisys are the two companies, the former will distribute the physical CD's, the latter will be doing the digital platforms. I would like to thank them for coming on board on such a short notice! The CD's won't hit the market until tomorrow, the songs are available at http://touch.gaana.com/album/one-by-two, and I'm guessing it is already on other platforms such as iTunes etc. If not today then I'm sure they will be tomorrow.

It's been a rough 10 days as most of you will know, to have the music finally available for all of you to buy and listen to is a big relief. There are only 5 days to go!

Tomorrow I will be at the radio stations all day to promote the music, they can also finally start air play.

I wonder how many people I will be able to reach within 5 days! It's a really beautiful album and I'm confident that with the combined effort of the two companies we still stand a chance.

Once again Crecendo and Unisys, thank you very much, you guys are the future.

Even I am baffled by our society’s obsession with sex.
I enjoy it, I crave it, I pursue it. I don’t hide the fact. I feel a tinge of shame admitting it. It always takes a moment for
the logical part of my brain to put the shame aside, and I see reason.
I have come to believe my sense of shame comes from my upbringing. I was brought up by the same values as any other from my country, which may come as a surprise to those who think people born into the film industry are brought up with a different set of values (usually loose and privileged). So I get it. The taboo that comes with the topic of sex in my society.
But booking young kids for a crime they didn’t commit, physically and mentally abusing them publicly? To me it looks more like it was the police that was guilty of 'public indecency'.
All this because they were young adults having sex. How liberated can you be!? They must be punished. By any law out there.
Many believe moral policing is a way to get rid of ‘western influences’, like liberal views on sex (it always starts with those) within our society. That there are outdated British laws from the Victorian age on sex and sexuality still in effect in India today, is lost on those constantly claiming that liberal views on sex (such as premarital sex) come from Western countries, and conservative views come from India.
I’m not going to cite ‘the Kama Sutra’ as an example.
The last I remember, my country has a written history that is a few thousand years old. It is full of stories of kings and queens, of kingdoms and communities, coexisting mostly peacefully, with an invasion every now and then. People from all over the world converged upon my country, staking their claim, leaving their mark. The culture of the region however, always held onto its roots no matter who currently ruled it. That is how I see morals. They are relative to those who rule. Principles on the other hand, are unchangeable, they are at the root of my culture. That’s what I was taught, so If we have a ‘moral police’, then why not a ‘principal police’ as well?
I guess I have resigned myself to a society mistaking itself to be the custodian of my culture.
This started off as a topic on sex. SEX IS NOT SOMETHING TO BE ASHAMED OF WHY IS IT SO HARD FOR SOME PEOPLE TO DIGEST THAT?
Oops...there I go...thinking of sex again...
Is that indecent to admit publicly?

Абхай написал в фейсбуке по поводу нового фильма и своего персонажа.

Those of you who have seen my film "Happy Bhag Jayegi" will know that I play a Pakistani in the movie. One question I was repeatedly asked during the promotions was, 'how hard was it to play a Pakistani?'
I was taken aback not by the question but by the frequency with which it was asked. I always stressed on the fact that 70 years of separation are not long enough to undo what a shared history, of over thousands of years, has done.
The only real difference was that I was speaking Urdu in the film, while the Indian characters spoke in Hindi. At one level the two sound exactly the same. Urdu is part of our shared history, in fact many of it's verbs can be traced back to Sanskrit.
Most of us were born after partition and recent history is only valuable when put into context. Imagine those who fought for freedom from our recent conquerors the British, and died before the conceptualisation of Pakistan. What would they have to say about how we view one another today, as two nations? What would they feel, and say, about their sacrifices?
While HBJ may not delve deep into such matters, being a comedy of errors between people from both sides of the border it was that rare opportunity to put aside our differences in politics, religion and philosophy, if only for two hours.
It was easy to build a story between the two countries. It was easy to create obstacles. It was easy to play with irony. It was an obvious a conflict. Most of all, it was easy to establish a friendship. We quite literally speak the same language, why are so many people surprised?
I came across this article today which inspired me to share this bit of my experience while making and promoting HBJ. It almost felt like my character Bilal Ahmed would have written it!
